Pain

There is a lot of pain and suffering in the world, that can’t be denied. Everyone goes through some difficulties in their life. Our tests come in multiple forms, whether it be physical pain caused by bodily harm or illness, mental exhaustion as a result of stressful situations, or emotional turmoil due to the loss of a loved one. We can suffer short, sharp, and intense bursts of anguish, as well as drawn-out and lengthy periods of torment. Some of us come to intimately know one or more of these types of distresses, others seem to be cursed with them all. Why do we suffer, and why in these various ways?

It is my belief that God never gives a person more then they can bear. All forms of suffering in this world are ultimately temporary. We simply need the patience to bear it. As long as we are patient and thankful for the blessings we have, I believe that there is no burden that is truly unbearable. Often at times we get so wrapped up in our hardship that we fail to notice all the gifts we have been favored with. Sometimes hard times are the only thing that makes us realize the true value of the things we still possess. In this way, pain can bring with it its own unforeseen blessings.

In the end, we should remember that as difficult as it is to bear, there is a significant wisdom to pain. Suffering goes hand-in-hand with our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual growth. It makes us stronger, wiser, and more mature, and it equips us to deal with greater challenges that in turn will cause us to evolve ever more. I believe that only by embracing suffering, instead of trying to run from it, can we fully realize the immense potential that each and every one of us possesses.
